С декабря 2016 года должно вступить в силу изменение в системе подсчета баллов: дополнительные пять баллов могут получить выпускники австралийских университетов, получившие степень Master by Research и Doctor в областях STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) и ICT (information and communication technology):

Mathematical Sciences
Natural and Physical Sciences
Other Natural and Physical Sciences
Physics and Astronomy

Information Systems

Other Information Technology
