Senior Software Engineer - 5 positions

Responsibilities
The applicant will be working in a small Scrum/Agile software development team as part of the larger Symantec Management Platform group. Software is primarily, although not exclusively, authored in C# on the ASP.Net/SQL Server platform.

As a senior software developer the applicant will be expected to analyse and develop software with little direct supervision and working from incomplete and sometimes conflicting requirements. The complexity and size of the existing software base and the many uses to which it's put by customers mandates an ability to balance competing requirements when choosing a feature's implementation. The applicant will need to be able to develop creative and imaginative software solutions, sometimes while working under pressure.

Being a platform consumed by many external groups the creation of clear documentation, and assistance of other developers forms part of the responsibility of this position. Hence the ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms is a necessity.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications/Prior Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
* Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science
* Minimum of 3 years development experience with C# language, .NET framework, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML and SQL.
* Five years or more experience developing software commercially.

Desirable Skills:
* Familiarity with Windows operating system APIs
* Understanding of Windows or other operating system internals very beneficial.
* Exposure to Scrum and/or Agile software development methodologies.
* WCF (Windows Communication Foundation)
* AJAX (Asynchronous Java and Xml)
* C++
* Experience developing server products

Personal Qualities Required:
* Clear verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work well within a team environment
* Ability to think laterally in solving problems
* Ability to adapt to new changes and learn quickly
* Capacity to work under pressure
* Good organizational skills, efficient and self-motivated
* Needs to be willing to learn and apply the technical details of new development environments and tools
