To apply for SIR sponsorship in Tasmania:
You must score 110 or 115 points in the points test.
You must have a positive skills assessment from a recognised Australian assessing authority. Applicants whose nominated occupation is on the Tasmanian skills shortage list will be given preference. However, people with other occupations will be considered depending on other factors outlined below.
English - Applicants with trades occupation should have an IELTS score of at least 5 across all bands. For non-trades occupations, primary applicants must satisfy one of the following:
Primary language is English; or
Have achieved IELTS score of overall band 6.5 or higher; or
Have studied in Australia at least for two years.
(Please note that this requirement can be waived if the applicant has secured a job offer.)

You will need to provide evidence of your skills, English language ability, work experience, assets to aid settlement, attempts to contact employers and existing links with Tasmania.
The Department of Economic Development reserves the right to modify conditions of sponsorship subject to labour market changes.
Notes: SIR sponsorship applicants with IT occupations must have at least one of the following:
3 years (paid) work experience as an IT professional; or
a firm job offer from a Tasmania based IT business; or
strong existing links to Tasmania (e.g. graduated from University of Tasmania, relatives settled in Tasmania, etc).
