Job Summary
The Database Administrator is responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, optimisation and
integrity of MySQL and MS SQL databases, and the synchronisation between them, which supports
company's corporate information management systems. Specifically, this position will define
database requirements, design database specifications, create and/or support business critical
reports, establish appropriate database access control levels for users, and work with other IT
Operations and Project management staff in the implementation of new systems and upgrades to
existing systems.
Experience
1. A Degree or Diploma in IT or Computer Science with at least 3 years subsequent relevant
experience; or extensive experience and expertise in relevant IT or Computer
Science; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Alternatively, Certified MS SQL or MySQL Database Administrator with 3-5 years relevant experience.
2. Detailed level of understanding of MSSQL and/or MySQL database structure, design, extraction,
load, synchronisation and transformation.
3. Ability to demonstrate appropriate SQL skills for report writing and application interrogation
using stored procedures including the use of Transact SQL.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of the database programming environments, including optimisation, tuning
and application interfaces.
5. Strong knowledge of database backup management, synchronisation and replication techniques.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the candidate applying. From $70K +
