Но про две книги - это как гром среди ясного неба, и данную теорию, кстати, тоже полностью опровергает...

Народ, вы бы лучше на этих двух книгах не зацикливались. Человек же ответил - читает другие жанры, много читает. А не так что вообще ни фига не читая сдать ридинг на 8-9. Это просто невозможно.
Кстати с хедингами у меня тоже проблема была. Мне кажется угадать правильный хединг когда к параграфу подходят 2 или 3 - чисто везение. Но в конечном счете это же только одно задание из 40! Ну не получается - лучше вообще забить, оставить на потом, зато остальные сделать на 100%. В итоге потеряете 5-6 баллов, все лучше чем 20-ть.

It seems to be reasonable to ask professional linguists to rewrite some articles from current media in different language grades or mark them accordingly. If there was paid language improving service, for example through email, I believe many students would follow it.

I'm not sure what you mean, sorry. First of all, linguists don't do this. This is not their job or area of expertise. Secondly, if you are talking about news and other current affairs publications in simple English, there are many such services and websites already.

I'm very pleased to communicate in English with you.
Even me once tought English in high school for money, so professional teacher or tutor in not always good linguist (in my wicked mind). In my opinion linguist is a professional scientist in language who has enough knowledge, experience to prepare such texts and analyze them. May be I'm wrong.

I agree, a professional teacher or tutor is not always a good linguist but a good linguist with no teaching qualifications and experience is never a good teacher.

BTW, some TESOL professionals hold Master Degree in Linguistics.

О! Вспомнил, пытал одного оззи, как будет "я не учился на Master degree, но так как мне не понравилось, я бросил" -- "I studied on Master degree, gave up because I didn't like it". Он поморщился, сказал что понял мою мысль, но она выражена не совсем правильно. На вопрос как сказать правильно, он лишь сказал, что не волокёт в науке, и вообще много учиться неправильно. Короче, начал отмазываться. Как будет правильно???

One of many possible options:

I started my Master Degree but didn't like it so I dropped out / quit / gave up, etc

Another one:
I started but dropped out of my Master Degree program because I didn't like it.
