Improve through intensive reading, possible?

Welcome aboard! Unfortunatelly people who can check if written correct hesitate written here
But anyway, I think it's good to write what you think and share it with others.



What's your method? Can you describe it?

I never heard about bouth of them. As I feel, there is not much difference between them, skim and scan. I wouldn't recommend this to beginners, because most of grammatical structers in serious issues (for example from periodicals) are quit complicated, and need to be analyzed from head to tale.

My problem related with memorizing information out of texts, while I pass half of page I hardly remember beginning. So, as per advise I start working on improving my skim and scan. How I do it now.

Skim - quickly go through text, find key words, highlight it. Usually it's in first sentence of each paragraph. While skimming try to avoid reading words in repeating in my head instead searching for groups of words and trying to imagine in pictures rather than find russian translation. Do not look on questions before skimming.

Scan - Get the question, quickly go through highlighted words to identifiy in which paragraph and sentence answer is, then ready it carefully to get the answer.

Никто не пробовал Atlas shrugged? Я изредка почитываю на телефоне - интересная книга, не очень старая + очень много временных оборотов прошлого описано.

Книга написана где-то в 70-х для восприятия сложная, но интересная. Чиатала ее на русском, фильмы смотрела на английском.
