Hi All
Just thought I would share the news from my migration agent and wondered if anyone had heard similar. Basically my agent went o a meeting at Australia House on Friday and this is what he was told:
The Assistant Secretary, Peter Speldewinde, from DIAC informed all agents in attendance that DIAC are currently reviewing their whole Migration Process and Policy. He suggested, but didn't confirm, that there could be major changes to the Skilled Occupation List (SOL), Demands List (MODL) and Migration Points System. He also suggested that the Critical Skills List (CSL) may be abolished once the new policies are in place.
Mr. Speldewinde advised that Australia is still actively targeting migrants but are being more specific as to who is being accepted. He also stated that these Migration changes are in response to the economy and employment needs in Australia. These changes are currently being formulated and will be implemented in the near future, possibly within 2 to 3 months.
