Что-то никто сюда не заходит, видимо к Рождеству готовятся все
Но я все равно продолжу графоманить, в надежде что кто-то прокомментирует
Тема из соседней ветки, из последних.
Nowadays people can listen to music and read newspapers on the internet without paying. Is it a negative or a positive development?
Plan
Opinion – positive
Argument – information and culture available for everyone
Argument – performers and news agencies can earn money by concerts and advertising.
In twenty-first century widespread information technologies provided people with a possibility to get any media contend from worldwide web in an instant and for free. I tend to consider this change as a positive.
Back in the past, culture was a privilege for rich, who could attend concert, invite musicians to their house, or, after inventing phonographs, purchase records and sound reproducing equipment. Now it is possible for every person with the Internet access to hear the music of famous compositors of the past and modern popular performers. Same thing is with news: in the days of the past only wealthy people could buy newspapers, among poor people obtained information from rumors, often in distorted form.
Thanks to the Internet, everyone can read about last events for free and from reputable sources.
After all, in pre-internet era it was not always possible to find music compositions someone wants to achieve even having the money, because local shops did not have them in the range or to subscribe to the foreign newspapers, because this service was not provided by local post service. Nowadays people’s choice is no longer limited.
Someone, however, can be concerned with such state of things, for example sound recording companies, which are afraid to lose their profit from selling music albums and compositions. Nevertheless, they have nothing to do but accepting these changes and finding other ways to receive profit, like arranging live shows and selling tickets to them. Regarding news agencies, they can earn money by placing advertising on their Internet sites which is shown to every visitor, what they successfully do already.
Thereby, obtaining a free access to all possible music and news in the world is undoubtedly positive development which erases borders between people with different income.
