illi4,
еще раз спасибо за комментарии. Te, с которыми я безоговорочно согласна, я не буду тут упоминать.
А вот кое-что хотелось бы обсудить:
1. Medicine achievements [achievements in medicine / medical breakthroughs] - что нужно читать / изучать, чтобы как можно быстрее (эффективнее) набрать такой базовый вокабуляр по основным темам?
2. life expectancy - какой синоним можно кроме prolonged?
3. drawbacks of an ageing population [недостатки стареющего человечества ]. - Эта формулировка прямо из задания: What are the disadvantages of an ageing population for individuals and society?
4. Ребята, мне кажется вот это предложение понятным, логичным, и даже где-то симпатичным. Покажите, пжт, где тут есть неоднозначности в прочтении или почему именно оно "не читается":
This essay will put forward the notion that despite majority of people see life expectancy growth as a favorable change, there are some drawbacks of an ageing population.
5. lives [lifes]
Оксфорд:
life
Pronunciation: /lʌɪf/
Definition of life in English:
noun (plural lives /lʌɪvz/)
6. Generally, people are inclined to see the positive side of the fact that our [избегайте we, our в академическом эссе] lives - А вот так ли это однозначно в этом случае? Оно же не персонифицированое, а скорее как оборот здесь используется.
7. Generally, people are inclined to see the positive side of the fact that our lives last longer in average than those of previous generations [это не является тезисным предложением, отвечающим на вопрос задания "Do you think most people will see this as a positive development?"].
я не понимаю почему не является.
Вопрос: average life expectancy is increasing for men and women. Do you think most people will see this as a positive development?
Тезис: Generally, people are inclined to see the positive side of the fact that our lives last longer in average than those of previous generations
(продолжение следует ))))
